90. Karantai House

The building at 10 Mavromichali Street is an impressive building, with a semi-basement, an elevated ground floor and two floors above it. Step cornices separate the different levels. Its façade is dominated by two balconies with elaborate ironwork on the two floors, which are covered and supported by iron corbels. At the same time, there are special neoclassical features in the building, such as intense symmetry and the existence of many openings, which offer plenty of light inside and lighten the robustness and volume of the building. All windows are crowned with a frame and a stepped cornice.
The wooden front door has two marble pilasters with overhead on either side, while it is crowned with an arched skylight with impressive protective ironing. Iron bars also protect the windows of the semi-basement and ground floor.
The curved beveled angles of the building at the corners of the ground floor make it lighter. At the corners of the floors there are pilasters with capitals.
