76. Shop and home
Brief documentation:
The building was built at an unknown time. The ground floor is used as a shop, while the first floor is used as a residence.
The building is a narrow building with ground floor and first floor. It is a building with neoclassical elements, evident especially on the façade of the first floor, where there are false pilasters and false capitals framing the three openings on Venizelou Street. There are separate balconies in front of the openings of the floor. What is characteristic is the prismatic end of the right side of the floor. Also, a decorative band with cornices runs around the floor, under the stepped cornice of the roof.
The entrance to the residence on the first floor is made from the side, through a courtyard and staircase, which have protective decorative railings.
The ground floor housed the Balkan Art Gallery for some years. This gallery, which operates in the wider region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, is an
Arts meeting place. It provides opportunities for artists from Greece and abroad who are active in the visual arts, music and other arts to produce innovative proposals, ideas and their applications.
